The question remains, where is your voice? Which side do you pick? And is there a side to pick on matters of life and death? Man or woman, where do you stand regarding femicide? Do you still choose to regard femicide as a non-issue? I am glad that women were policing their male counterparts to see where they stand amidst this plague that continues to claim the lives of women. However, it should not be an opportunity to shun them from not seeing the light. It is a chance to reasonably inform them that femicide is not a matter to be debated in as much as most of them are not easy to convince. We live in a society where individuals can justify murder, I can only imagine!
The absence of your voice in all this is also a problem. What does your silence mean? Retweet and like posts that speak against femicide on social media, support the anti-femicide peaceful marches, report enablers of gender-based violence, and assist where you can otherwise you have chosen to affirm the oppressor. We do not exist as singular beings, we co-create the realities we experience as a society.
It is not merely enough to stand and watch from the sidelines. We must all stand in solidarity and take collective action as we call out the perpetrators of femicide and raise our voices to end this. It is not a woman issue. Confronting the underlying issues, norms, and perspectives that promote femicide is what will bring about change. This calls for collective responsibility and action from all, so again, where is your voice?
